iPhone Carrier Name Missing From The Status Bar: How to Fix It

Quick answer
The network name has vanished from the top of the screen. On modern iPhones with a notch or Dynamic Island there is simply not enough room for the carrier name, so iOS does not show it on the Home Screen at all. This is normal and is not a fault.

Why does this happen and how do I fix it?
On modern iPhones with a notch or Dynamic Island there is simply not enough room for the carrier name, so iOS does not show it on the Home Screen at all. This is normal and is not a fault. The name still appears on the Lock Screen on some models, and always in Settings.
When the name is genuinely missing rather than merely hidden, it means iOS has no carrier profile loaded — a new or reseated SIM before its settings bundle downloads, a line that has not finished provisioning, or an eSIM that failed to install.
The place to check is Settings, General, About. That screen shows Carrier and the carrier settings version regardless of what the status bar has room for.
What should I try, in order?
- Open Settings, General, About and look at Carrier. A name and a version number there means nothing is wrong — the status bar is just short of space.
- If Carrier is blank or reads a generic value, stay on that screen for about 30 seconds to let a carrier settings update prompt appear, then install it.
- Toggle Airplane Mode for 15 seconds, then restart the iPhone.
- Check Settings, Cellular to confirm the line exists and is turned on. If you use a physical SIM, reseat it.
- If Carrier is still blank and you have no service, contact the carrier — the line is most likely not provisioned to this device.
Which carriers does this apply to?
| Published for | any iPhone, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and UScellular |

| Type | iOS setting |
| Good to know | Hiding the carrier name on the Home Screen is expected behaviour on iPhone X and later. Only a blank entry in Settings, General, About indicates a real problem. |
