What is Text HELP For Program Details?
Under CTIA's Short Code Monitoring Handbook, a shortcode program must reply to the HELP keyword with the program name and information on how to contact the sender โ at minimum a toll-free number or a support email address. Programs are expected to answer HELP even from people who are not subscribed.
That makes HELP a quick sanity check. If you get recurring texts from a five- or six-digit number and cannot remember signing up, reply HELP. A legitimate program identifies itself and gives you a real contact route. Silence, or a reply that dodges the question, tells you something too.
Like STOP, HELP is a convention that honest senders follow. It is not a carrier feature and there is nothing to switch on.
