FaceTime Reachability And Caller ID on iPhone: How It Works

What is FaceTime Reachability And Caller ID?

FaceTime keeps its own list of addresses. Under You Can Be Reached By FaceTime At you tick every phone number and email people may use to call you, and under Caller ID you pick the single one that shows on the other end.

This screen matters more than it looks because call relaying to a Mac or iPad depends on it. Apple's own setup instructions for making cellular calls on other devices start by telling you to confirm your phone number is selected here on every device involved. If a Mac never rings, this is usually why.

Since iOS 18 the screen is at Settings, Apps, FaceTime. On iOS 17 it is Settings, FaceTime. The Silence Unknown Callers and filtering switches for FaceTime audio calls live on the same screen and are separate from the Phone app equivalents.

How do I do it?

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap Apps, then tap FaceTime.
3. Under You Can Be Reached By FaceTime At, tick the numbers and addresses you want.
4. Tap the entry under Caller ID to choose what other people see.
