What is Cellular Data Network And APN?
The Access Point Name defines the path your iPhone takes to reach the carrier's data network. When it is present, it is at Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data Network. Some prepaid and MVNO carriers require you to type an APN by hand before data will work at all.
If the screen is not there, your carrier has not permitted it. That is normal on the major US postpaid networks, which push their APN through carrier settings instead. From iOS 16 onward some carriers can also fill the APN in automatically.
If you have edited it and things broke, the same screen has Reset Settings at the bottom to restore the carrier defaults. Also note that an iOS update wipes manual APN edits unless they came from a configuration profile, so you may need to enter them again after upgrading.
Important: Entering the wrong APN can knock out cellular data completely and, on some plans, cause extra charges. Do not change it unless your carrier or IT administrator gave you the exact values.

- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Cellular.
- Tap Cellular Data Network. If it is not listed, your carrier does not allow it.
- Enter only the values your carrier gave you, or tap Reset Settings at the bottom to restore defaults.
