People see Scam Likely or Spam Risk when you call. This page explains what it does, how to use it on an iPhone and which carriers it applies to.

I build **Secret Codes: IMEI & Carrier**, a free iPhone app with 317 checked codes and guides, including this one. If you would rather tap than memorise, [get Secret Codes on the App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/secret-codes-imei-carrier/id6807154322).

## Why does this happen and how do I fix it?

The spam label is added by the recipient's side, not yours. Carriers run call-analytics services — Verizon Call Filter, AT&T ActiveArmor and T-Mobile Scam Shield among them — that score incoming numbers and label or block them. Your number gets scored on its calling pattern, on complaints, and on whether it was previously used by somebody who made a lot of unwanted calls.

Recycled numbers are the usual innocent cause. So is a genuine change in behaviour: a high volume of short outbound calls to people who do not have you saved looks, statistically, exactly like telemarketing.

Correcting it means getting the reputation record changed at the analytics providers, which is not something the phone or your own carrier's blocking app can do for you directly. Your carrier is the right first contact because they can identify which providers are involved and submit a remediation request.

## What should I try, in order?

- Verify it first. Ask contacts on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile what label they see — the labels are provider-specific and you need to know which ones flag you.
- Check whether your own carrier's spam tools are misconfigured on your line, using #787# on T-Mobile to read Scam Block status, or the Call Filter and ActiveArmor apps on Verizon and AT&T.
- Call your carrier, report that your number is being labelled, and ask them to submit a remediation request to the analytics providers on your behalf.
- Reduce the pattern that triggers it. Ask the people you call regularly to save your number, and avoid long runs of short unanswered calls.
- Re-test after a week or two. Reputation scores are recalculated over time rather than cleared instantly.
- If the number was recently recycled and the label will not clear, ask the carrier for a different number. That is sometimes genuinely the fastest fix.

| Good to know | The label lives with the recipient's carrier and its analytics partner. Turning off your own carrier's spam-blocking app has no effect on how your outgoing calls are labelled. |
