See what iOS itself used, and reset the counters that never reset on their own. This page explains what it does, how to use it on an iPhone and which carriers it applies to.

I build **Secret Codes: IMEI & Carrier**, a free iPhone app with 317 checked codes and guides, including this one. If you would rather tap than memorise, [get Secret Codes on the App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/secret-codes-imei-carrier/id6807154322).

## What is System Services Data And Reset Statistics?

Above the app list in Settings, Cellular there is a System Services entry. Tap it and you get a breakdown of what iOS used data for behind the scenes, things like messaging services, software updates and time and location lookups. These cannot be switched off individually, but seeing them explains usage that no app accounts for.

The other half of this screen is the Current Period counter and its roaming companion. Neither one resets automatically at the start of your billing cycle, which is why so many people see numbers that look impossibly large. Scroll to the very bottom and tap Reset Statistics to zero them.

The habit worth forming is to reset on the day your carrier's billing cycle starts. That turns a meaningless running total into a usable estimate. Apple still advises checking with your carrier for the authoritative figure.

## How do I do it?

- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Cellular.
- Tap System Services above the app list to see the breakdown.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Reset Statistics on the first day of your billing cycle.

## Which carriers does this apply to?

| Good to know | Available on iOS 17, 18 and 26. On dual SIM the figures shown are for the currently selected cellular data line. |

## How Secret Codes helps

Secret Codes keeps this and every other entry a search away. Pick your carrier once and each entry says whether it is published for your line. You can save favourites, add a private note, and record whether a code worked on your line. This entry is part of Secret Codes Pro.

**Secret Codes: IMEI & Carrier** is free on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/secret-codes-imei-carrier/id6807154322
